Winnipeg Residents Can Now Have Groceries Delivered in as Little as One-Hour

Real Canadian Superstore announced today an expansion into Winnipeg to bring home delivery to close to 200,000 households. Winnipeg residents can now order their favorite brands from Real Canadian Superstore and have their groceries and everyday essentials delivered by Instacart straight to their doorsteps in as little as one hour.

“We are a customer-led company and are always looking for new ways to make shopping more convenient,” said Herman Paek, Senior Vice President, ecommerce, Loblaw. “The option of home delivery complements our in-store and pick up experiences, to provide our customers with convenience and quality, however they want to shop with us.”

With Instacart’s partnership with Loblaw, the delivery service is now available to more than 50% of Canadian households. Loblaw is committed to blanketing the country with convenient access and online shopping options – including stores minutes from most Canadians, the nation’s largest network of PC Express locations where customers can order online and pick up in stores, at transit stops or at select Shoppers Drug Mart locations, and home delivery of online beauty and apparel products.

“Since Instacart first entered the Canadian market through our Loblaw partnership in Toronto in December, we’ve received an overwhelmingly positive response and requests to expand into new markets,” said Andy Anthony, Instacart General Manager. “Today, Instacart is available to 1-in-2 Canadian households, and we look forward to continuing to grow that footprint and reaching more customers across Canada in the weeks and months ahead. This expansion also offers more flexible income earning opportunities to our thousands of shoppers in Canada, who help pack, pick and deliver the groceries customers want from the local retailers they love.”

How Instacart works: Customers go online to www.Instacart.ca or open the Instacart mobile app on their iPhone or Android device, select their city/store, add items to a virtual cart, then choose a delivery window (within one hour, within two hours, or up to five days in advance) and check out. An Instacart shopper accepts the order on his/her smartphone, uses the Instacart shopper app to guide them through shopping, and then delivers the order to the customer in the designated delivery timeframe.

For orders of $35 or more, the delivery fee is just $3.99. Many customers also take the opportunity to save big over time by signing up for Instacart Express membership, which enables unlimited, free same-day delivery on orders of $35 or more. After a free trial period, Instacart Express membership is just $9.99 a month or $99 a year.
